It’s Time for a Fun and Active Story Stroll!

Combined Winter Story Stroll

In celebration of I Love to Read Month and Winter Walk to School Day, the Safe Routes to School team is partnering with local schools to host a Story Stroll! It’s going to be a fun opportunity for students to get outside for a walk to enjoy the winter along with a great story.

What:

  • The pages of the children’s book “Old Rock (is not boring)” will be displayed on a walking route around the outside at NUACS from Jan. 29 – Feb. 2 and on the Jefferson / Middle School campus from Feb. 5-9.
  • Teachers will be able to take students on a walk during school hours and read the book together.

When:

  • The Story Stroll will be available outside at NUACS from Jan. 29 – Feb. 2 and on the Jefferson / Middle School campus from Feb. 5-9.
  • The Story Stroll will be left up all week for children and families to enjoy during non-school hours as well.

The story:
Old Rock has been sitting in the same spot in the pine forest for as long as anyone can remember. Spotted Beetle, Tall Pine and Hummingbird think just sitting there must be boring, but they are in for a wonderful surprise.

Fabulous tales of adventurous travel, exotic scenery, entertaining neighbors and more from Old Rock’s life prove it has been anything but boring. The stories are sure to inspire questions that lead to wonderful conversations about the past and the natural world.
