The Heart of New Ulm’s Food Environment Action Team is once again hosting Power of Produce Days at the Farmers Market in New Ulm. There will be one event day designed for families with children ages 4-12, and one event day for senior citizens age 60 and older.
Families / Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9 to 11 a.m.: The first 50 families who stop by the Heart of New Ulm’s table at the farmers market in its new location in the A to Zinnia parking lot (15 S Broadway) will receive $10 in produce dollars to use for produce at the market (no jams, jelly, honey, meat or baked goods).
Seniors / Thursday, Aug. 22 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.: The first 50 senior citizen households who stop by the Heart of New Ulm’s table at the market at the farmers market in its new location in the A to Zinnia parking lot (15 S Broadway) will receive $10 in produce dollars to use for produce at the market (no jams, jelly, honey, meat or baked goods).
The Power of Produce Day aims to encourage families with children or senior citizens to visit their local farmers market, support local produce vendors, and encourage youth and seniors to make healthier food choices by offering them money to purchase their own produce at the market.
