This year\, the Heart of New Ulm is partnering with the United Way Backpack Project to offer families additional free resources and fun activities through a Community Connection Resource Event! \nBackpack Project Pickup*: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.\nFree Resources and Activities**: 3 – 7 p.m. \n* This event is open to all community members who register in advance for a free backpack through United Way of Brown County. Children in grades K-12 in Brown County who qualify for school educational benefits are eligible to participate in this program. \nRegister online by July 24: \nhttps://www.uwbrowncounty.org/backpack-apply \n** Shoes\, haircuts\, food and other products will be available on a first come\, first served basis. Changing the Narrative is an interactive conversation that empowers participants to change perceptions of mental health toward hope and resilience. \nObjectives:\n1. Understand appropriate language about suicide and mental health.\n2. Be empowered to have healthy conversations around mental health and suicide.\n3. Identify risk and protective factors associated with individuals at risk.\n4. Recognize signs for people at risk.\nA certificate of participation will be emailed after the event. \nPresenter: Erin Schwab\, Health Educator\nErin is a health educator and planner for Brown County Public Health and a Certified Prevention Professional. She is deeply passionate about promoting the health and well-being of all community members and strives to understand and respond to the unique needs of the communities she serves. Through education and advocacy\, Erin works to empower individuals and strengthen community well-being.
